GARGARO GRABS WIN IN SPORT FOURS David Gargaro came off the pole then had to grabbed the lead back from outside polesitter Bob Henry on lap two. He fought it out with Henry then with Michael Glad, who shaded him for first on three midrace laps. Glad stayed on Gargaro through the finish and yielded only when David Westgate rushed up to steal second, streaking past Glad and Tyler Boudreau on the penultimate lap. Westgate nabbed second, with Glad on his bumper, while Boudreau took fourth, ahead of Mike LeFort. Devin Miranda’s sixth clinched the division championship for him. Miranda had also received the trophy from Phil Viveiros for the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown at prerace ceremonies. Gargaro and Henry went door-to-door at the outset, but Henry was running hard on the outside and having a hard time staying low on the oval. Gargaro ran to the front and Henry dropped in behind. But Glad dived under and Henry Lavalle jumped to third. Boudreau was fifth behind Henry. Gargaro was three cars up on lap four but Lenny Sousa and Lavallee got together coming out of turn four and spun onto the frontstretch. Lavallee tried to restart and go, but caution flew. Garagaro and Henry went door-to-door, trailing Glad. Boudreau and LeFort. Westgate was outsode in the fifth spot with Miranda on his bumper. Ray Herman suddenly erupted in smoke and ran to the pits. Gargaro had a four-car lead on lap sox as Glad, Henry and Boudreau pursued. Then, Christine Cavallaro spun in turn two. Gargaro and Glad lined up and went wheel=to=wheel and Glad took a lead over Gargaro. David fired the afterburners and was all over Glad’s bumper then crossed under going into lap ten. Again they were side-by-side before Gargro claimed the front. Boudreau had moved into third and Henry followed with Westgate, Miranda and LeFort giving chase. Westgate went around Henry into fourth just before Mike Belanger’s motor quit in turn three, sending him to the pits. Simultaneously, Matt Smith got stuck on the pit ramp, trying to make an exit and Henry Lavallee began smoking heavily. It took two tries to accomplish the lap 17 reboot. But finally Gargaro and glad were dead even coming under the flagstand with Boudreau seeking any opportunity and Westgate on the outside. Miranda was next, while behind him LeFort ran outsode Gil Bradstreet. With two laps to go, Westgate dived under into second with Glad and Boudreau in tow. The finish was established. And they brawled their ways over the stripe with Gargaro earning the trop to Victory Lane. Bradstreet claimed seventh, followed by Sousa. Eric Schwegel, Kim Bickford, Lavallee, Kuhn and Cavallaro.
