GBELIYAN means SHAMAN or BALYAN .. According to my father there are many kinds of Gbeliyan, one which is the Gbeliyan Megiba, the most powerful kind og Gbeliyan; so powerful that when he initiates a ritual, you could literally hear him talk with his Abyan.. My mothers grandfather on her mothers side, Tarudong, was a Gbeliyan Megiba. My grandmother once told me that she could hear him converse with his abyan and she could even see them .. My fathers grandfather on his mothers side too was Gbeliyan Megiba, he owns a wood in which he could sit everywhere as long as hes on top of it (even at the tip of a cogon grass). Both became Christians and discarded their Gbeliyan practices. Tarudong was converted by a missionary from Lapuyan whose surname is Bayamban, the first Alliance missionary in Tuboy, Katipunan.
