Haiti- Re: The president visit to HUEH (LHopital General) A Healthcare system is almost non-existent in Haiti, our very limited number of tertiary hospital centers are not well equipped (tertiary is an overstatement), our infant mortality rate is the worst in the Caribbean, the healthcare system/structure only provide formal care to only 47% of the population (less than half of the population), even our dear President had to fly to Florida for something as easily treatable as a pulmonary embolism, many more other things, like the NGO problem... Why I am saying all these things regarding the Presidents visit to Haitis main hospital? I saw a very disturbing pattern, not just from this president, but all the presidents before him too. For them visiting and repairing some rooms in the countrys main Hospital are the fix to our ill healthcare system, usually a big delegations, journalists, lot of promises, lots of clapping.. lots of pictures and slogan on social media on how the government is working well, while they are not addressing the problem at all... Worth noting that we have done a great job in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Haiti for the past 10 years +, it was a combination of government and private funded programs with the help of our international partners, we can look back to this success to address other problems in our healthcare system...
