GETTING TO KNOW HIM Tonight, I know many of you are fighting silent despair because your personal relationship with the Lord isnt what you want it to be, yet you dont know how to make it better. As one partner told me, I talk to people who have such a wonderful relationship with the Lord. But, why, after all these years of reading my Bible every night, dont I have this? At times, Im not even sure I know Him. People in Jesus day faced the same problem, and He talked about it. He said, You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these (very Scriptures) testify about Me! And still you are not willing (but refuse) to come to Me, so that you might have life (John 5:39-40, AMP). Although it may sound harsh, Jesus was telling them that theres a vast difference between merely reading His Word night after night and actually coming to Him with their whole heart. Its similar to the difference between getting to know about someone through reading his book and getting together with him in person. Tonight, ask the Lord to show you how to come to Him with an open heart as if He were your closest friend. As the psalmist said, Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us (Psalm 62:8, NKJV). Learn to do this and just watch your new love relationship spring to life!
