GM FAMILY AND FRIENDS Good morning Father, we come with humble, but grateful hearts this morning to thank You for a beautifully blessed day yesterday. Thank You Lord for family who came from Jersey to enjoy the holiday weekend with us. Continue blessing them as they travel here once more in the coming month to be with their family here in Philly. Lord, I thank You for and on behalf of my wife, our 5 sons, our 5 grandsons, our sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends. Thank You Lord for allowing us to come together as one and celebrate not just this countrys independence but also our freedom we have in You. because of Your completed work upon the cross! Father, I ask forgiveness for any and every thing I said, done, or thought which wasnt pleasing to You. Let Your Spirit within continue the good works You began a swe go through this day! Father thank You for strengthening my nephew Tyler and my sister in-law Bernie and all those in the hospitals, hospices and prisons. Continue showing and leading Your people down that good path and let us not use our past as a hitching post where were tied down to, but as leaning posts where when were tired, we can look back and see those paths Youve brought us down and gain strength to carry on! Now Father, as we go through this day, I pray Your protection over , around and through Your children. Keep us safe from dangers, seen and unseen. Once again Lord, I thank You for that unit called family. Ask that Your blessings continually rain down upon all of my family near and far! May our conduct, our character and our conversation forever glorify You and encourage others. Its in the matchless, majestic and marvelous name of Jesus Christ I do pray! Amen! ---------- Jeremiah 6:13-20 Its easy to become tied to memories of the good old days instead of using our experiences to find direction for the road ahead. We are all susceptible to the paralyzing effects of nostalgia, especially when loved ones gone are included--a longing for what used to be! Jeremiah was a priest from a small town near Jerusalem when God called him to be a prophet to the nations(1:5). He was given the very difficult job of pronouncing Gods judgment primarily on the people of Judah, who had turned away from the Lord. And he made it clear that he was delivering Gods message not his own(7:1-2). God urged His people to look back so they could move ahead! The purpose of considering the ancient paths was to find the good way marked by Gods faithfulness,His forgiveness and His call forward! God can teach us from our past that the best road is the one we walk with Him! ------- Though I know not what awaits me- What the future has in store, Yet I know that God is faithful, For Ive proved Him often before! ------ Gods guidance in the past gives us courage for the future!
