GO BACK TO THE WAY YOU CAME. (Revelations 2:1-4) Dear beloeved, you need to go back to the way you first came to the Lord Jesus Christ. There are several Christians that have lost the way they were when they first came to Christ. That you came to Christ as a young man does not mean you should leave your first love now that you are a bit older. The Bible says “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” (Psalm 37:37). Make sure that you are not losing your first love. There are several Christians that came to church solely because of their pursuit of God, the ways of God and the things of God, but when they got to church, they began to pursue after the politics of church and several relationships that became detrimental to their pursuit of God. The Bible says in Revelations 2:4 “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” As you read this, will you say that you still have the same fire, pursuit and thirst after God as you had when you first gave your life to Christ? I once heard a professor say that vigil is for young people but I tell you that even Jesus our Lord prayed all through the night at some point. Make sure that you are not neglecting some Christian activities as if they are not meant for you. Today, God is calling you back to your first love to the altar of sacrifice and of sanctification. Those things that were sin to you before, those things that you never imagined doing, have you found yourself in a church that those things are tolerated and now, you have also started tolerating them? Remember that others may, but you cannot. Return to your first love of prayer and detailed study of the Bible. The days when you read five chapters of the Bible per day, what is happening now? Is your Bible fast becoming a status symbol? If yes, go back to your first love and may God help you in the name of Jesus. PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for every way I have backslidden. I return to my first love of prayer, bible study and worship today. Daily Bible Reading: Isaiah 8:1-9:21, 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, Psalm 55:1-23, Proverbs 23:4-5
