GOD THANK YOU FOR MANG ILING, YOUR INSTRUMENT TO MAKE ME WALK AGAIN!! Aside from my parents, If there was someone who had contributed to what I have today, it was Mang Iling. I barely knew him. I met him when I was 4 years old and he was with me 1 hour, 3 times a week for 6 months. As far as my memory is concerned, he was about 60 years old at that time. How I met him? Heres the story. I got infected with Kochs meningitis when I was 3 years old. The 1st two effect were paralysis and blindness. Yes, I experienced being blind though temporary and paralyzed for the next few months. I was brought to San Lazaro Hospital, and it was there that I was diagnosed to have a Meningitis. I was in coma for more than 2 weeks. After 2 months, i was discharged from the hospital though was cautioned by the doctors that if I had a relapse and return to the hospital within 6 months, there would be no assurance that I would return home alive. Though cured of meningitis, I went home paralyzed from neck down. Its Gods intervention that its the only residual effect on me. That time out of 100 who had meningitis, only 1 would live but with varied residual effects such as blindness, retarted growth, seizure, mute or pipi, damaged memory, etc. The doctor advised my parents to have me undergo a professional physical therapy. That didnt happen, but they opted to hire a manghihilot referred to by my grandfather, that was Mang Iling. According to him, there were three of us both meningitis victim, whom he had working on. By Gods grace, after six months of therapy, I regained my strength and ability to walk again though slightly limping, my left legs had shortened and became smaller, another residual effect. According to Mang Iling, among his three clients of meningitis victim, I was the only one who made it. Praise God. Though I can walk again, I was not able to totally regain the strength of my arms, thats its small. Now, as I reminisce, I am soooo grateful to the Lord for making Mang Iling His instruments to make me walk again. Indeed God uses different tools to let us know how much He loved us and show us His purpose in life.
