GODS SURPRISE PACKAGE For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods (Exodus 7:12 KJV) Moses and Aaron stood before the despot Pharaoh. Hearts palpitating and bodies perspiring . In a quavering voice symbolic of mixture of emotions, they demanded that Israel be freed. An arrogant look and a wry smile on his face,pharaoh would not be bothered by such petty pockets of dissent. Out of the blues, Moses threw his rod on the ground. The rod turned into a slithering serpent. Pharoah , the occult grandmaster and the head of all the mystical order of Egypt is used to seeing magic. He shrugged his shoulders as if to say is that all.A little clap and all the heads of different occult groups in the land threw down their rods. Since Moses wants serpents ,give him one,he would have boasted. True to his words, the whole arena was filled with slithering snakes....products of rods. If man does what God can do, then God looses his right to assert his lordship. Moses and Aaron were not only surprised ,but for a moment were embarrassed. Has he called us for a disgrace ? . The question rang unanswered in their hearts and in ours too. Those moments when it appears heavens deafening silence make us wish to shrivel and roll into oblivion. Who has not faced pharoah in the field asking you is that all that your God can do? At that moment when darkness seem to choke the truth to death, God came thinking outside the box. He never told Moses nor any of us for that matter what he will do when a blockade seem to bring us to our wits end. Moses rod began to have a feast. It swallowed all the serpent rods. How many were they....twenty, thirty or forty. I dont know , but he swallowed them all to the consternation of the magicians. Their rod , their power source and authority has been swallowed. Moses picked up the serpent rods and indeed the power of Egypt and walked out. That day their destiny began to change. The serpent and authority of pharoah has been beheaded, the remaining displays of pharoah was nothing but the death dance of a beheaded chicken. The best gifts come as surprises. In the death arena, when disgrace has sown a garment waiting to lay it over Moses and by extension us, God always thinks and acts beyond our imagination . He shows up in ways that will leave our mouths wide open in pleasant surprises. May God surprise you my reader in this season. May his power swallow the rods of afflictions in your life.
