GOOD NEWS US Fish and Wildlife Service has banned the importation of tusks from elephants killed by hunters on trophy hunting safaris in Zimbabwe and Tanzania citing the questionable management practices in these two countries lack of effective aw enforcement. “Additional killing of elephants in these countries, even if legal, is not sustainable and is not currently supporting conservation efforts that contribute towards the recovery of the species.” Thank you to the US government for another step toward protecting elephants from being killed for their teeth.
