GRAMBLING RAMBLING: WHAT A TIME! As I said before, I have been taking the time to watch movies I missed seeing when they first came out. Oh, such joy! Last night it dawned on me how fortunate I am to have lived during this time. Not only was I able to grow up engaged by the immense talent of Ossie Davis, Louis Gossett, Jr., James Earl Jones, and Sidney Poitier, now I am able to bask in the emotional and intellectual lights of Charles Dutton, Morgan Freeman, Glen Thurman, Denzel Washington, and Forest Whitaker. A wonderful time! In an interview Denzel recalled how early in his career he was presented with a role that paid well but was extremely stereotypical. I wont use Denzels words for it. Smile. However, he said he talked to Sidney Poitier about the offer and Poitier refused to tell him whether to accept or reject the role.
