♪♪♪♫ GRANDPA…♫ ♪♪...tell me bout the good old days ~~ A volunteer writes: Aptly named, Grandpa is... well... the canine incarnation of someones grandpa, the grandpa whos strong as an ox, the one we believe will be around forever. Four legged Grandpa is happiest when hes exploring the neighborhood, nose to the grindstone and the dirt. He doesnt care that youve draped him in a colorful jacket thats a few sizes too big. Hes too busy and preoccupied to care about silly fashion. Clearly an athlete in his younger years, Grandpa has the stamina to walk for hours. When its time to sit and exchange pleasantries, our surefooted senior is happy to oblige. He keeps one attentive eye on his companion, graciously accepting affection offered, as he continues to survey the passing scene. Grandpa is inquisitve with a mind of his own. He is an outdoorsman to the core and, if he had his way, would spend every hour breathing, sniffing, and snorting in the fresh air. But all good things must end, even though Grandpa doesnt see it that way. Upon returning to his kennel, this toughie puts on the brakes and the comedic battle begins. Lift, push, cmon Grandpa get in. Then pivot, push, and out pops Grandpas big square head. Again and again until the game ends and Grandpa calls a truce. But this opinionated guy must have the last word and, as you exit, Grandpa begins to whine and howl. He has stories to tell and, by now, hes ready for another walk around the block. Even though Grandpa is a get-up-and-go kind of guy, at the end of the day he is also a sit-by-the-fire and snooze kind of companion. Grandpa represents the best of both worlds. And thats part of his charm. He is likely housetrained and easy to manage on leash, although he can be a bit of a puller. As well he seems to get along with other dogs, has a healthy appetite, and an excellent disposition. Grandpa would make a great addition to a loving family looking for a spirited oldster whos ready for action, adventure, and his daily afternoon nap. https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=705784819434400&set=a.611290788883804.1073741851.152876678058553&type=1&theater
