GRAVEN IMAGES!!! Exodus 20:4 (KJV) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. We only think of one part of the definition of the word image, a reproduction, our imitation of the form of a person or thing. An imitation in solid form; a statue. But there is more to the definition, a likeness of an object produced on a photographic material; a tangible or visible representation; a vivid or graphic representation. So the word image actually covers images, pictures, drawings, inscriptions, or anything depicting forbidden by God. Pictures of Jesus, who is God, have been a thorn in the side of many fundamental Bible preaching churches for years, because 99.9% of the time they depict Jesus as a long blonde-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Jesus, which is far from the truth. Jesus didnt not have long hair (1 Corinthians 11:14, Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him.). The Bible doesnt give a clear description of Him, but one things for sure His hair wasnt long, because it was forbidden for men to have long hair (1 Cor. 11:14). The most were told about His early appearance is found in Isaiah 53:13-15 and John the beloveds description of Him in Revelation 1:13-15. Most depictions of Him are inaccurate, because He was a Jew, which means He most likely had, dark-skin, dark-eyes, and dark hair. If it were meant for us to know His identity, Matthew, Peter, and John who spent 3 yrs with Him, as well as His brothers, James and Jude wouldve given a description, yet these New Testament writers offer no details about His physical looks. In short, having images photos, inscriptions, or ornaments of anything thats in Heaven, thats in the earth beneath, or thats in the water beneath, is an abomination in the eyes of God and you shall be cursed, (Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it; but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.~ Deuteronomy 7:25). Many of us, me included, post pictures with an image of Jesus or angels in it. All the while, we are committing a terrible sin against God. (Acts 17:29,30 says, 29)Forasmuch then as we and the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like into gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and mans device. 30) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent). There are many fundamental churches and people who need to repent for this abomination. Any picture or depiction you have is a graven image and the Word of God clearly states it is wrong!
