GUJOR , BARRY, KWAPNOE CANVASS SUPPORT FOR BUHARI By Shabul Mazadu The emergence of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be highly welcomed in Plateau State by most high profile politicians in the state who view him as the only presidential candidate that possesses the leadership credentials required to bring about the desired change in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Speaking to The Beacon on different occasions, Comrade Nanle Gujor, Honourable James Barry and Alex Kwapnoe adjudged General Buhari as the best candidate for the Presidency in 2015 with the promise of not only tagging along, but wholly involved in massively canvassing support for him. Comrade Nanle Gujor, President of the Mupun Cultural and Development Association and human rights activist, said that Buhari is an honest man who did not siphon public funds in all the offices he held in this country to accumulate wealth for himself as he only possesses three houses, one each in Kaduna, Kano and Daura, his hometown. He has no foreign accounts, while some of his colleagues own oil wells, execute major contracts in the country and with companies littered all over the country from stolen public funds. Buhari, he added, never executed any contract and, above all, stands taller than all the presidential candidates in terms of patriotism. Furthermore, Gujor applauded his qualities of decisiveness and stringent disgust for corruption and nepotism. On the allegation of religious bigotry, the comrade said: “Buhari’s driver, secretary and cook are Christians, something which Nigerian Christians cannot do for the opposite religion.” On his part, Hon. James Barry, former Commissioner of Lands and Survey, judged Buhari as one person who still retains the discipline and patriotism he obtained in the Nigerian Army. According to him, Buhari detests corruption, crimes and indiscipline and, above all, he is God-fearing in all that he does, unlike Governor Jonah Jang and his mentor, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who wear the garments of Christianity but are far from doing God’s biddings. These qualities are what Nigeria desperately need in its elective political office holders because only with such qualities can Nigeria be transformed for the better. The Director-General of General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization in Plateau State, Hon. Alex Kwapnoe, expressed confidence that Buhari will bring Nigeria out from its economic retardation and stagnation and put an end to the Boko Haram insurgency as he did during the Maitatsine riots when he was the General Officer Commanding Third Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army. General Buhari, he added, is not a religious bigot and extremist as perpetrated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Extremism, he said, is a two-edged sword which cuts across both Christianity and Islam. Extremism in Christianity, he further buttressed, is seen in President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Jonah David Jang who are always surrounded by pastors and going regularly on pilgrimage and claiming that God is always speaking to them, thus dragging religion into politics whereas by no means are the two synonymous. “Unlike Major-General Buhari who went to Mecca once in 13 years and is not in the company of Islamic scholars, President Goodluck Jonathan is an extremist who is seen always in the company of the Christian clergy, something which if it were Buhari, the misguided Christians would have buried him completely by now. Goodluck’s extremism has further deepened Nigeria into several messes that only require a man of Buhari’s credentials to sanitize,” he posited.
