It is no surprise, then, that with several leading opposition politicians already in prison - for the crime of daring to oppose and protest this mafia masquerading as a government - that Maria Corina Machado, one of Venezuelas most courageous, enduring and dignified opposition leaders, has now been formally accused of conspiracy to assassinate Maduro. This mafia government is the same that is responsible for the worlds highest inflation rate, predicted by The Economist this week to reach triple digits: it is the same mafia that has overseen the social meltdown of Venezuela, now the worlds second most murderous nation: and it is the same mafia that funds Venezuelas musicians to wear its farcical flag of Revolution on their backs in the worlds elite concert halls, distributed by elite record labels, managed by elite agencies. If Abreu, Dudamel and my fellow Venezuelan musicians and industry colleagues around the world have the slightest interest in the future of Venezuelas youth, then for THEIR sakes, speak up for them! You can no longer dwell in the naive illusion that you are helping Venezuelas youth if you serve a master that has destroyed any chance for a future of prosperity and security. Have the courage to denounce this regime, to refuse to be its international emmisary-for-hire, its human shield. Every note you play, that is funded by these tyrants, is a betrayal of the beauty and DIGNITY OF ART.
