Galesburg Middle Schools track athletes had another busy week last week. Galesburg traveled to Neodesha on Monday, April 28, and Oswego on Thursday, April 29. On Monday at Neodesha, Galesburgs seventh grade boys medley team placed third consisting of Conner Mason, Zalek Swisher, Jaden Gard, and Jordan Meyers. Ashlynn Aikins and seventh grade girls placed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:57; Caden Heiskell, eighth grade boys, placed second in the 800 meter run and third in the 1600 meter run; and Kourtney Wimp, eighth grade girls, placed first in the 3200 meter run with no time due to malfunctioning timer and second in the 800 meter run. On Thursday at Oswego, there was one girls division and one boys division, so seventh and eighth grade were able to intermingle. All other track meets that Galesburg has been involved in were four divisions, two girls, seventh and eighth and two boys, seventh and eighth. There were ten schools in attendance, Altoona, Arma, Bartlett, Cherryvale, Chetopa, Edna, Galesburg, Oswego, St. Pats, and St. Paul. Galesburg girls division placed fourth overall, falling one point away from third. Nicole Aikins and Ashlynn Aikins placed third and fourth placed respectively in long jump; 100 meter dash, N. Aikins, placed fourth and Kylee Beachner placed fifth; 400 meter dash, Beachner placed sixth; 800 meter run, A. Aikins placed second and Kourtney Wimp, placed third; 200 meter dash, Beachner placed fourth; 3200 meter run, Wimp placed first with a time of 13:54 and Brianna Kane placed third; Galesburgs medley team placed third, consisting of A. Aikins, N. Aikins, Beachner, and Wimp and Galesburgs 1600 meter relay placed second, consisting of Cami Cramer, N. Aikins, Wimp and A. Aikins. In the boys division, Galesburg placed fifth overall. In shot put, Jesse Linnebur placed second and Kaleb Beachner placed sixth; 100 meter hurdles, Hunter Simioncic placed fourth; 1600 meter run, Caden Heiskell placed third; 800 meter run Heiskell placed second and Jordan Meyers, third; Galesburgs medley relay team placed fourth, consisting of Zach Wimp, Heiskell, Jaden Gard and Meyers; Galesburgs 400 meer relay placed fifth overall, consisting of Wimp, Linnebur, Collin Chaney, and Zalek Swisher; Galesburgs throwers relay team placed fifth , consisting of Johnathan Duling, Cade Cooper, conner Mason, and Noah DeMeritt; and Galesburgs 1600 meter relay placed fourth, consisting of Meyers, Beachner, Gard and Heiskell. Galesburg will end their track season, Tuesday, May 6, with the league meet held at Erie High School starting at 3:30 for field events and 4:30 for running events.
