Game of Drums is my own little soundtrack for a film. Obvious influences but not covers or copies. No overdubs, all performed live in one take, with simple fade in/fade out editing. A combination of drum set, triggered instruments (all generated from the drumset) and ambient iPhone apps such as Air and Whisper. In many cases I am creating soundscapes rather then grooves. A percussionist often has to play many notes as a roll to be equivalent to another instruments semibreve etc ... So sometimes fast playing is only there to create slow music. Sometimes the most complex polyrhythms are created from two simple things sandwiched together. I love working within this conundrum.
