Garden Clean Up This weekend, we prepared our flowering containers for the winter. If you leave the soil in the pots, you run the risk of the pots cracking. Step One: Cut off the spent leaves and flowers. Dont forget to compost! If you dont have a compost pile, you can drop the material off at one of Saskatoons 2 FREE compost depots until November 7. saskatoon.ca/DEPARTMENTS/Utility%20Services/Environmental%20Services/Waste%20Minimization/Other%20Recycling%20Opportunities/Yard%20Waste/Pages/default.aspx Step Two: Dump the soil out of your container. In our garden, we incorporate the soil in our flower beds. Its fantastic for adding organic matter. Step Three: Store upside down. If you have space in your garage or garden shed, thats great. In our garden, we store our pots on our deck. The pots shown have survived 14 Saskatoon winters. Avoid storing your pots directly on soil or grass. Questions about fall gardening?
