Garden Grove is a city in transition. Its a place where the promise of its cultural diversity is being fulfilled with the first Vietnamese-American elected Mayor in City history. He joins tireless advocates Phat Bui and Chris Phan for what some are calling a Vietnamese American majority Council. I dont see it that way. Kris Beard and Steve Jones may have had different experiences growing up in Garden Grove but all five of them love the City and want to see its people succeed. Lets help them. Lets be patient and forgiving constituents as we are ourselves would want to be forgiven and given time to learn. Former Mayors Broadwater and Dalton and their City Councils helped to lift Garden Grove to where it is today. They had no control over the boom and bust cycles that affect all cities but their disciplined and prudent management helped Garden Grove to ride it out. They paved the way for this wonderful day. Congratulations City Council! We are proud of you all.
