Gday U here with my Week 5 update. Halfway…that’s what LSC Ben told Snr Cst Dave today. This is the first week where I finally turned up and knew exactly what I had to do and how I had to do it. At the start of next week I think I might even get tested on my abilities in “Paddock Tracking”. If I pass that then I’m out in the big world learning how to track around where you humans live. It’s a whole new world out there with lots of new smells and sights. Might even meet some new dog friends, though I’m that busy there’s not much time to socialise. Between my training, posing for pictures and typing I dont get much time to myself. That’s fine I like it that way, maybe thats why they call me a Working Dog? The heat this week was almost unbearable and my black coat really got hot. If I was hot then I can only imagine how Snr Cst Dave felt in his dark overalls. It didnt seem to slow him down and I made sure I kept up with him staying attentive and trying to learn every chance I got. He makes sure Im cool and man isnt he mad for the water! I’ve been learning about things called ‘ticks’ this week. Apparently theyre little ‘suckers’ that bite your skin and make you sick. The white thing I wear around my neck, same as all the other dogs I work with, keeps them away and Snr Cst Dave also brushes me every day to make sure they leave me alone. Bono and I had a bit of a disagreement this week. We have been discussing the best way to send our Christmas letter to Santa. I’m a modern sort of pup and find typing is the easiest and fastest way. Old Cranky Pants on the other hand thinks paper and pen is the best. The old dinosaur thinks putting his letter in the big red box is the fastest way. Funny because I thought those boxes were places to sniff and go to the toilet. One thing we could agree on was that we should plan a special surprise for Santa when he arrives at our house on Christmas Eve....I wonder will he climb over our fence!
