Gene Sprague was a wonderful person. I remember in 3rd grade when he first came into Mrs. Jacobs classroom as if it were yesterday. A lot of kids thought he was weird and would say, Genes Germs pass em on... But Im happy to say that I didnt participate, but instead asked him how he felt about it and he said to me, They dont know what theyre doing, as though he was years ahead of these little kids. I also remember there was some sort of carnival at Fiesta Gardens school when I first saw his mother. She was a strikingly beautiful red-haired hippie who also caught my eye. She seemed so out of place in our community. Both she and Gene had a different air about them... they were good people
