General Kanene Appeals 18-Yr Sentence Convicted local musician Clifford Dimba popularly known as General Kanene has appealed his 18 years jail sentence for defilement in the Supreme Court. Kanene, who was last week sentenced by High Court judge Chalwe Mchenga, has filed his appeal through his lawyer Nicholas Chanda. The Kansapato singer contends that the court erred in jailing him as there was no proof of the actual date of birth through the presentation of a birth certificate and also demanded that the age be scientifically determined. Kanene was convicted by the Lusaka Magistrate Court but committed to the High Court for sentencing. His legal challenge prior to sentencing was thrown out with bail denied. The Misisi domiciled singer has interestingly sung about defilement in his social commentary Kansapato. zambiareports/2014/04/29/general-kanene-appeals-18-yr-sentence/
