Genuine strength abides in trusting oneself to gain the voluntary support of inherently powerful people, versus expending energy trying to disempower others so we can then more readily coerce or manipulate what we have striven to weaken...! The difference between standing in ones own power versus applying force to weaken others because we do not trust ourselves to be good enough to gain the voluntary support of other people is IMMENSE. The impulse to weaken and then coerce others into subjugating themselves to some authoritative will fuels most of our existing social systems. The challenge that arises when we take this approach is that while we may gain some advantage in the short run by weakening or undermining others, in the long run we create a society of weakened individuals...and we too must live with the consequences of a weakened society.
