Get involved with turtle conservation volunteering in 2014 February 17th, 2014 in Turtles Costa Rica by Anne Smellie Help out with turtle conservation volunteering in Costa Rica- and save £100! The turtle nesting season is fast approaching, with our first volunteers heading off to Costa Rica on July 1st 2014. This is an exciting time for us as it means that we need to guarantee all hands on deck for the busy turtle season from July – December. In 2013 Oyster volunteers helped to save 277 turtles from depredation and released over 15000 baby turtles out to sea. This year is set to be even busier, and we are excited to be getting our volunteers involved once more. For this project to be sustainable we need at least 10 volunteers at any one time to be helping with the turtle conservation volunteering. To encourage more and more volunteers for longer term, we are offering a massive £100 saving on all trips of 4 weeks or more. Make the most of your gap year, your career break, your annual leave or your university holidays and get out to Costa Rica later this year for four weeks or more- and save a great £100. There are also 1 week and 2 week options for those of you who are pushed for time! The beach sites are a perfect place to combine volunteering and contributing with relaxation and exploring. Many volunteers make the most of their free time by learning to surf, riding horses along the beach, reading in the hammocks next to the beach or simply lounging in the sea. There are some great community projects to get involved in too, teaching English to the local community or getting the kids involved with the conservation projects themselves.
