Getting a lot of texts, pms, and such asking questions about this - TopicsExpress

Getting a lot of texts, pms, and such asking questions about this weight loss. Heres what I have done to date. 1. Made a pact with an accountability partner that we will hold one another accountable each day to do what is necessary to lose at least a pound per week. The person you should do this with should be someone you respect and do not want to let down. Makes a huge difference. Having a mutual faith component so that a greater purpose to do your best for the Lord and others doesnt hurt either. 2. Utilize a tool that will enable you to figure out how much you should healthily eat and also exercise to lose at least one pound a week. Currently I walk 10000 steps a day and can eat up to 2140 calories, as figured out by my fitness pal. I have learned that I need to eat about 1600-1800 calories a day to not hate the world and lose weight. My accountability partner has their own goals, of which I am aware also. 3. At the end of everyday my partner and I text each other two numbers: number of calories and number of steps. I do not believe we have missed a day in over 70 days since we started. Give praise when praise is due. Give encouragement on a day that didnt go so well. Its the journey, not the destination. We both have struggled with this in our lives so we already know were prone to give up, so we keep it positive. One good day out of seven is still better than seven bad days. 4. Get something to count steps. Started just using my IPhone 5s (the M7 chip will count steps via the my fitness pal app). Switched to a fitbit cause it was just more convenient. 5. Dont be surprised if along the way others join you. To my delight Aimee Allen Bucher chose to start watching calories and counting steps. I enjoy it when we walk together in the evening to get our steps. My partners spouse has joined us. Some folks from Aimees work. Other random people. The more the merrier. I only text one person a day, but we all stay connected thru my fitness pal. 6. You dont need to kill yourself on the exercise (much thanks to Dr. Erik Risolvato for helping me understand this). 10000 steps might not be sufficient forever, but it is now. Cant believe how much better I feel as my body has adapted to moving. Just doing the hour walk everyday is making huge changes. 7. Track every calorie. If you have a limit, youll be shocked at what you decide aint worth the calories. I also have been trying new foods and flavor profiles because the crap I like to eat now, is the same crap I liked to eat at 14. Have taken a shine to vinegrettes, grilled tilapia, grilled veggies, and chilled black coffee. I also now eat a small breakfast and a small controlled late snack. 8. Dont get discouraged if you have a bad day. You get back on the horse tomorrow. 9. Ive intentionally blown the calorie limit twice. Thats better than the old pattern of every day. 10. Start the day with a short devotional and prayer thanking the Lotd you are alive. Hope that helps.
