Getting ready to leave Dingbuche tomorrow. I hiked high again. Ive been a little worried because I cough every once in a while. Well I met a guy today (USA I think) who was in terrible condition. I told him to see a doctor in Periche. I dont know if he will. Heading up to Lobuche, then Gorak Shep, then base camp and Kala Pattar peak. Wow. One of the funny things I found here is that people love my stupid bear grylls knife. It cost like twenty dollars and people here have Kukuri knives. I had an army unit stop me and each take turn passing the knife around and talking about how cool it was, well everyone in the army unit except the poor bastard they made carry the G3 and eight magazines of ammo. He was too busy huffing and puffing. Later two buddist monks stopped me and looked at the knife as well and kept nodding saying, so good, so good. You have to understand the ludicrousness of it. Im carrying probably two thousand dollars worth of gear, and all anyone can look at is that stupid twenty dollar knife. Well Im off, I dont want to pay too much money for this. I will contact when I can. P.S. Sherpas are really amused when youre walking up the trail playing your trekking pole like a guitar while listening to the Rolling Stones. Just some weird cultural thing I guess... or maybe theyre just Scorsese fans.
