Gillian Evans I scored zero points with my assessment. I had - TopicsExpress

Gillian Evans I scored zero points with my assessment. I had worked for 38 years, over 20 years of that with the debilitating condition fibromyalgia. The stress of my job affected my condition so bad that I collapsed & went long term sick. Whilst I was sick I was made redundant. I had just started to claim incapacity when I was called for an interview at the DWP, the Disability Officer apologised for what I was about to go through & blamed generational sick claimants. I had no idea what he meant--why would I? I had never been long term sick before. Then I had my assessment. The Doctor barely looked at me, he was sharp & unhelpful. He recorded my hand temperature as being fine, except I have Raynauds & my hands were freezing. He recorded my pulse rate was normal & he never took it. He recorded I refused to bend over, even though I told him I couldnt. It was a farce. I was not fit to work, my social life was nil. Scoring nil points was a joke. I couldnt stand to cook a meal, couldnt stand in the shower without someone being around, couldnt shop (still have trouble with all of those), but I could work. The appeal was the worst experience of my life. I couldve taken it further, but I feared Id end up in a mental hospital. It has got to stop. I moderate online with a fibromyalgia organisation & I know of at least 1 person who committed suicide due to this system. Thats 1 lost life too many & Im sure there are more.
