Giving Back In a Healthy Way If a quiet, calm place where you can - TopicsExpress

Giving Back In a Healthy Way If a quiet, calm place where you can enjoy good fresh healthy food and a quality coffee appeals to you, then Aum Shanti on Nepean Highway Frankston is a café that fits the bill. Not only will you find these fine qualities but you’ll be able to enjoy a selection of local artist’s work, browse through the clothes on display and discover information on a variety of alternative and interesting topics. Elke Newall is the owner/operator and when asked what inspired her to open a vegetarian/vegan/ café in Frankston she explained that it is her personal choice to eat a vegan diet and feels passionately that people in the Mornington Peninsula should be able to choose natural vegetarian/vegan food if that is what they want. Gluten free food is also a speciality of the café and after trying one of their Melting Moments I found it delicious and lacked nothing. Aum Shanti is a not for profit concern and allows Elke and her team to give back to society, in that all of the proceeds, after running costs, go to worthy causes like Animals Australia and Fair Trade. Two current initiatives that are presently being focussed upon, are making soup for the City Life food van and offering Suspended Coffees. Elke draws from her own culinary skills for the dishes that are offered and the ingredients are about 60% organically grown. The coffee is Fair Trade (and delicious). Aum Shanti has been open between six and seven years and is available for functions and catering.
