Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. We can only approach God through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Being God the Son and having lived a sinless life, He is uniquely qualified to rescue mankind from certain, eternal death. We all need rescuing because we are fallen and were deceived by sin. Consider today what it must have been like for Jesus to endure all He did on His road to the cross. Consider the love and commitment He feels for us, because He had the power to stop all that pain for Himself. Yet, He did not stop it. He walked in obedience and love, choosing instead to be crushed so that we would have hope in Him.
