Go Act is constrained to decline the invitation of C/Supt. Mabilin - TopicsExpress

Go Act is constrained to decline the invitation of C/Supt. Mabilin of the CSG for a meeting in his office in Camp Crame at 1:00 PM tomorrow afternoon supposedly to discuss amendments to RA 10591 and the IRR. This is because such a meeting, which was merely verbally conveyed through channels, is contrary to the agreement made in the Senate during the hearing on 21 May 2014, since the agreement there was, as suggested by Senator Grace Poe, for the gun advocate representatives and the PNP to meet in a NEUTRAL VENUE to discuss amendments to RA 10591 and the IRR. Camp Crame is certainly not a neutral venue. Hence, the invitation counters the agreement reached during the Senate hearing. More important, the PNP has asked us to submit our proposals for amendments which we already submitted to the Senate. Most of all, there is a hearing before the Senate Committee Secretariat on 29 May 2014 at 11:00AM. It is at this hearing where various proposals on amendments to the law and IRR can be fully and properly discussed, in accordance with the agreement during last weeks hearing. It is here, which is the correct venue and proper avenue for our fight, where Go Act shall appear and advocate its proposed revisions on the RA 10591. Our position has been that the Law must be amended to have a properly crafted IRR, and not the other way around. We are sending a letter to CSG with copies to the Senate Committee to formally decline the CSG invitation and to inform the Senators present in the Hearing of this.
