Goan gets top Infosys job in US November 20, 2013 TEAM HERALD teamherald@herald-goa PANJIM: Goan Alexandre Elvis Rodrigues will replace Infosys’ highest paid executive in North America Stephen Pratt, who quit recently to begin his own venture. Born and brought up in Goa’s picturesque island of Chorao, and a student of St Bartholomew High School, Alexandre who is currently Infosys’ North America regional head (energy and services) will now also take upon himself the responsibility as head of utilities and resources for North America, the post held by Stephen R Pratt. Speaking to Herald, his elated mother Esperança Rodrigues, who is actively involved as the President of the Chorao Civic and Consumer Forum said her son’s achievement was a testimony to the wonders, hard work can do, and that it was possible for small town and village boys to make it big. “He is a student of St Bartholomew’s High School in Chorao, which is a village school. He’s a student from a village brought up in a village and a product of our village and has made us all proud,” Esperança told Herald. Despite being in a top-level managerial position, Alexandre has not forgotten his roots and visits his home in Chorao everytime he flies down to India for meetings. “Just a month back he came home when he was down in Bangalore for a meeting. Everytime he is in India he comes and spends the weekends with us,” she said. Alexandre went on to do his Masters in Business Administration in Symbiosis in Pune after which he joined Modi Xerox and from there was picked up by Infosys which later sent him to North America to head their operations there. Alexandre has been with Infosys for more than a decade. Pratt, who had joined Infosys in 2004, was also a member of the companys executive council, its highest decision making body.
