God is our everlasting fortress and strength, even when things are at their worst. Satan strives to do us harm. He is clever and powerful, filled with hate. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) We cannot win the spiritual battle by our own strength. However, God gave us His Son, Jesus, who can and WILL win the spiritual battle. He is the Lord, Almighty, unchanging, and eternal. The enemys forces are great, but we have nothing to fear. God has willed that His Truth would triumph through us. Even though Satan is tenacious in his efforts to destroy us, we can endure. Satan has already lost, because evil is self defeating. His forces will destroy themselves, as Gods Word says that sinners will be killed by their own evil. - Psalm 34:21 (NIRV). Therefore, the enemy cannot stand against itself, much less Gods voice that can melt the earth with a single word (see Psalms 46:6 - NIV). Jesus reigns over all, and He is there for us. God gave us His Spirit and gifts. We have everything through our obedience to Him, leaving nothing to fear. Satan might be allowed to take all that we cherish in this world, perhaps even our lives. However, by our greater love and submission to Gods Truth, the worst that Gods enemies can do to us will be short lived. If we stand strong in the Lord; then we will be the victors. We will live forever in Gods Kingdom, away from the eternal death that awaits Satan and His minions.
