God loves you. He doesnt love you for who you might be, and he doesnt love you for who you used to be. He loves you for who you are right now! Whoever you are, whatever your circumstance, whatever burden or pain or fear you are carrying around, he loves you and wants you to place it all at his feet and to know him, to trust him, and to love him. Someone recently asked me how I can possibly post the things to Facebook that I do and have the time and energy to keep the conversation going, or to risk and deal with potential backlash or controversy. For him, it is difficult to live the gospel in the online forum because it tends to lose the personal and relational approach that the gospel is built upon. I understand his struggle, and dont discount his worries. But, for what its worth, the power and spread of social media is vast and can be used very effectively to reach people in very positive ways. This is why I post what I post. I realize that for anyone whos been around my page for any reasonable length of time probably knows that this has been a journey, and what you see now is very different than what you may have seen a couple years ago. The journey is still moving forward, and there is still a lot to discover, but I know that God can use me where I am now, and I am trying to make the best use of the gifts and opportunities that he has given me. I am constantly surprised by the positive (and sometimes negative) feedback that comes both publicly and privately from various folks, and mostly it serves as a bit of affirmation for these efforts. I do it, because Gods word has the power to pull people out of the most dire circumstances. It has the power to regenerate people where endless exhaustion has taken hold. It has the power to speak into our lives and our situations like nothing else can. I do it, because somewhere out there is a person who simply needs to know that someone loves them and is looking out for their best interests. I dont do it to draw attention to myself, but to declare that God is above all things, and can use something as lame as Facebook for his purposes. So, tonight, whoever you are, wherever you may be, please know this: God loves you and is seeking after you. He does not place conditions and roadblocks between us and himself. He doesnt expect you to climb a mountain to reach him. He is running after you, calling out your name, and saying, come to me, beloved child. Know me. Trust me. Delight in me, because my love for you is real and eternal. He desires you. He has known you since before you were born, and he loves you for all that you are, for all that you ever have been, and for what you may yet become. Its late, and I realize some may not see this in time, but tomorrow is the day of the week we reserve to gather and praise God and to respond to the love that he shows us. If youve been contemplating the possibility of seeking a church, or if you are looking for a place to connect with God, or if you are simply looking for answers to some basic questions, I would encourage you to take that leap tomorrow and open yourself up to the possibilities. Even if you arent sure about church, but want to know more about God, then find someone to talk to. Im always available, and if youre seeing this, you know how to get in touch. There is no better time than right now to answer the call, to step out, to seek answers. I dont have all of the answers, and am still asking a lot of questions myself, but Id love to get you connected with some people and resources that could help. No matter who you are, above all else, you are a child made in the image of God, and he wants you to know him.
