Good Evening: So thought since we all can use a little humor in our lives, I should send you at least one TMI report. (TMI = too much information.) But just in case you are not into that kind of thing and are tempted to stop reading now let me just get in first that there is a chance that Russ may be able to go home tomorrow. Im not going to count on it, but am hoping for it. With that out of the way, as Paul Harvey would say, here is the rest of the story: When I brought Russ into emergency on Wednesday morning, I had enough forethought to pack a bag for us, putting in a couple outfits for him, completely forgetting that he would be wearing one of those beloved hospital gowns and would not need too many extra things. For me, I brought a couple sets of clean undies but not much else. As Russ started his really bad downward spiral, I knew that was a bad decision. Bottom line, I wore the same clothes all day Thursday that I had worn all day Wednesday (when we came in.) Not too bad but by Thurs night I could not stand myself any more. I woke up Friday morning and looked in the bag I brought, at Russ extra unneeded clothes and tried to decide what I could stretch big enough to fit me. I found a pair of sweats that looked like they would do the trick. They did. Sort of. Yes, they were snug but they covered my bottom and they were clean. All day today I wore Russ clothes. That was a good thing because we had lots of company today. Even if I looked like I was poured into the pants, at least I did not stink. . . I dont think. (Anyone who visited. . . shhhh!) I felt so good after getting cleaned up I decided that Russ needed to do the same thing. So we scrubbed him up and I insisted he FINALLY put on some undies. I know, that was another TMI. He felt so bad the first two days here that I did not object, much, although I did mention to him a few times that I thought he needed them on. I also apologized to a few techs for his non modest behavior. So today I believe we were both much better in the fashion department. Which is very good since Russ walked the halls several times and we had lots of company today. Kris Tubbs Farquhar came to visit us while Kenny was having a chest xray. Then Lorna and Bill Geeseman came to visit. A couple nurses came in to visit who had seen Russ earlier in the week and wanted to know how he was doing. And then a psyche doctor came in to talk to Russ. (I wonder if he heard about the no undies.) Then my cousin Jackie Odom Salisbury came and brought me the most amazing super gift ever! Jackie brought me some clothes that she could no longer wear. In that bag I found a nice pair of flannel jammies. (No pants other than the jammie bottoms.) So tomorrow, for the sake of keeping up the clean appearance, I am going to have a jammie day! Yeahhh!!!! Thank you Jackie for giving me a jammie day! (Hey, if the young kids can go around in their jammies out in public, why cant I. At least I will be clean and covered and wont look poured into them like I probably looked today.) I just wish Jackie would have brought me some crayons and a coloring book too. So the good news is that the blood tests are showing that Russ is no longer losing blood so if all the tests continue looking positive, we may (heavy on the may) get to go home tomorrow. Im not holding my breath since they still have to do some med adjustments. But I am crossing my fingers. So thats it for now from the TMI headquarters. If you gotten this far, thanks for laughing with me, and not at me. And NOW you know, the rest of the story!
