Good Morning Crazy Cousins!! We have about 63 degrees with some fog outside of Police Headquarters. We will be close to 74 degrees today, with rain likely all day. There is a cold front moving through and we could hear some thunder. Tomorrow we won’t make it out of the 50s. We have no delays, incidents or arrestee developments to discuss at this time. Today is October 3rd, 2014. The 2015 Brimfest Crazy Cousins Reunion and Veterans Welcome Home Parade is Saturday, September 19, 2015. We will welome veterans from all over the U.S., to the biggest veteran parade in the United States. On this date in the year 1906, “SOS” is adopted as a warning signal by first conference on wireless telegraphy. First, It is humorous that there was a conference on telegraphy. That must have been a hoot. Next, why pick SOS? I would have gone with four letters and use HELP. Call me silly, but I believe in direct communication and plain talk. It usually works. The word for the day is…numismatics (noo-miz-MAT-iks). The word means, “the collection and study of money (and coins in particular).” We use it in a sentence as follows: “With all the change she found under the couch cushions, she felt as though her hobby was numismatics.” And now the Brimfield Police Department Etiquette Tip of the Day: “A gentleman never sits unless and until all women in the room are also sitting; and then, unless he is in his own house, he sits only on invitation.” Today is NOT my birthday. Happy Birthday to Roy Horn. He is a magician. He was part of Seigfried and Roy and did lots of high production shows. The act closed shortly after he was attacked and severely injured by one of his tigers during a performance. I admire what they did, but would not get that close to a tiger. I’m big on staying away from anything that has a desire to eat me. Call it a survival instinct, I guess. Happy Birthday to Gwen Stefani (singer), Dave Winfield (retired baseball player) and Tommy Lee (drummer). Lee is the drummer for the band Motley Crue. He has been married to Pam Anderson and Heather Locklear. What an overachiever. Happy Birthday to Chubby Checker. He is a singer.
