Good Morning Everyone, Well what a surprise we had yesterday morning with the light ground covering that we awoke to. It was pretty and didnt last long at all with the day turning out nice and sunny. Well thanks to all that participated and made the first Workshop of 2015 a huge success!! We had a big turnout and they made some great quilts just using a Cake Layer. Congratulations to all the beginners that gave it a try, a great way to start a new year. Hats off to Cheri, who is a great teacher and loves doing it and it shows. We are looking forward to next month. Next months workshop will actually be held on February 21st. It is the third week because the library already had a booking on the second Saturday. It will still be from 12:00-4pm. You will be using a Charm pack and some yardage to make A Charming Quilt designed by Cheri. We will have a supply list at the shop and the sample (as seen below) will be in the shop so you can check it out and sign up if interested. We also received our first bolts of 2015 and here they are... Kiss Kiss to go along with our Layer Cake Some Vintage inspired bolts from Riley Blake. Avant Garden which we also have in Charms,Layer Cakes and jelly rolls. Best Day Ever by Moda Red, White and Free from Moda which we still have available in Charms. Great to use in projects for Veterans or getting ahead start on 4th of July. A fun red bandana print from Bunk House from Moda which we also have in blue. and lastly a couple bolts from Riley Blake. So come and check out the new fabric along with the huge Clearance selection we have to make room for the 2015 fabrics that will be coming. I also received an email announcing a new magazine from Missouri Star called MODBLOCK, which should be arriving in a couple of weeks and be at their same low price of 5.99. We will let you know when it arrives. I cant wait to get it and check it out and picking out another project to make. Here is what they had to say about it... We are so excited to announce the first edition of our brand-spanking-new magazine, ModBlock! Here at Missouri Star, our philosophy has always been that quilting should be fun and creative. That’s why we love the modern movement so much. In modern quilting there are no rules, just great ideas to help you get started. You can follow the pattern or break free and choose your own design path. You are limited only by your own imagination! This special edition of ModBlock is perfect for quilting newbies and veterans alike. Anyone looking for a fresh, creative take on the art of quilting is going to love learning about color theory, improvisational piecing, paper piecing, quilt as you go, and how to use traditional quilting tools in unexpected ways. It is our goal to get our readers excited to try new things and take some quilting risks. Here are a few specifics about ModBlock: Content: Technique and instructional content rather than storytelling. Fabric: Modern prints and solids. Designers: Meet new, modern designers (along with Jenny Doan, of course)! Patterns: Modern designers put their own spin on existing MSQC tutorials and techniques. So heres to a full bobbin and sewing time, Cyndi
