Good Morning. Here are todays Fast 5 Headlines ! 1. Fear of any low-level flooding in Winnipeg this spring has eased somewhat after the Red River crested in the city overnight. It was slightly higher than a revised prediction last week, but no additional properties were threatened. The Red River Floodway hasnt been activated, but the province says that could change if heavy rain south of the city creates a second crest. 2. Manitoba is set to join Ontario, Quebec and other provinces in slapping restrictions on the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. A new bill would forbid the use of such pesticides on lawns, school grounds, playgrounds, hospital properties and other areas, starting January 1st. Homeowners would have a further one year grace period. 3. Another day...and still no plane. Australias Prime Minister says searchers wont rest until theyve done everything to solve the mystery of the missing Malaysian airliner. Authorities say that Bluefin robot sub and its sonar has covered the seabed of more than 80 per cent of a 310 kilometer search zone in the Indian Ocean. So far though, nothing of interest has been spotted. 4. Middle class Canadians are better off financially than their U.S. counterparts, thats according to an analysis by the New York Times. But, a CIBC economist says theres no real reason to celebrate. The analysis shows Canadian median income rose above that of the U.S. within the past 4 years. But economists say its not that our middle class is doing so great, but that Americas is doing badly when it comes to the widening income gap. 5. Finally today......Toyota kept its number one position in global vehicle sales for the first quarter of this year narrowly beating rivals at G.M. and Volkswagen. The Japanese automaker says it sold 2.5 million vehicles in the January to March period, just ahead of G.M. and Volkswagen at 2.4 million. Wet and warm day today....enjoy as theres SNOW in the forecast for tomorrow! Hope youll join Matt and I on 991freshfm this morning !
