Good Morning. It’s a new day! Lord, when I am wrong, make me - TopicsExpress

Good Morning. It’s a new day! Lord, when I am wrong, make me willing to change; when I am right, make me easy to live with, that was Pauline Peters prayer; and I think it is a wise request. I have said on this page, that one of the moments were greatly tempted to go wrong is when we are in the right and suffer offence. But wisdom counsels that when things or people go wrong, we shouldnt go wrong with them. Most of the time, it is not action that reveal character but reaction. The majority of us are humbled when we are wrong, but unbearable (difficult to live with) when we are right. On the contrary, true humility is in being calm, gracious and forgiving when offended. Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances. He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty. Put on tolerance as one of your ‘outer garments’ everyday, and make allowance for offences because they are inevitable occurrences in our daily transitions in life. In order words always condition your mind to the fact that someone may offend you today. This is not being negative; it is smartness! When the offence eventually comes, be slow to anger, rule your spirit. Stop attaching too much importance to how people treat you; rather attach more importance to how you treat others. If you choose to take note of everything said or done against you, then you are setting yourself up for frustration and anger. You know what, anger is just one word short of DANGER! So minimize how often you flare into anger, or you may burn yourself. Stop taking life too seriously. Find a new and amusing way to look at wrongs. Don’t take it personal; be more concern about the offender than the offence. But don’t deliberately make yourself vulnerable to offences and hurt, which is foolishness; however, be gracious and generous with forgiveness when offences come. Finally but funny enough, we often forgive outsiders more readily than our close friends or family members because we felt that they ought to know. This is an absolute absurdity! First, leave a blank cheque of forgiveness for your own house; but be generous also to outsiders. It’s a good morning; have a great day!
