Good Morning from KTJS News A Jackson county man died in an apparent drowning Friday evening on private property in the town of Elmer south of Altus. William Douglas Wright age 63, was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. Authorities say the victim had last been seen around 5pm Friday by a neighbor clearing foliage from the edge of a pond behind his home. Relatives came home and discovered the shop open and the mower and trailer on the dam of the pond. They discovered the victim floating face down in the pond in about three feet of water. The body was taken to the state medical examiners office to determine the exact cause of death. A Mangum man was seriously injured in the crash of his Jeep at 6:20pm Saturday on highway 283 three miles east of Mangum. Randy Weaver, age 47, suffered head and leg injuries. Weaver was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center. The highway patrol reports his vehicle was westbound and ran off the road to the right, struck a culvert, continued down the ditch and rolled three times. Weaver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected coming to rest about eighteen yards from the vehicle. The report stated the driver had been sleepy at the time of the accident. Hobart city administration meetings will be held this evening beginning with city council at 5pm. The council will consider: Possible action making Birch Steet between Randlett and Lowe in front of the Head Start a one way street. Action on a proposed city ordinance regarding school zones. Possible action on determining times for speed restrictions for the North Broadway school zone signs. Possible action designating up to three parking spaces in front of 304 S. Washington for the pur of a loading zone for Home Systems LC. Action on renewal of terms for Hobart Public Library board members for three year terms ending January 2018 for Jerri Menz, Anna Wherle, and Mary Ann Freeman. Action on re appointment of Jeff Cassida to the Midwestern Oklahoma Industrial Foundation. Consideration of annual city and town agreements with Kiowa County , an agreement on streets and bridges. A possible fee schedule for demolition and debris disposal charges. The Public Works Authority will consider: An agreement from Ken Weeden and Associates for consulting services for FAA requirements for Hobart Municipal Airport and an invoice for $3,840. The Hobart Recreation Authority will consider: A review of activities at the Hobart Municipal Golf Course. Action on retaining an account with Beckham County Rural Water.
