Good Saturday Morning, minor set-back. Mike has to go 48 hours w/o - TopicsExpress

Good Saturday Morning, minor set-back. Mike has to go 48 hours w/o his pacemaker being used before being released or having a permanent pacemaker inserted ...and it went off today at 7:47 this morning. But here is the good news, Mikes college roommate and dear friend has given him at length explanations of what is going on. Unlike a routine bypass, Mikes surgery was on the atrium and this creates disruption of electrodes and the delicate balance that goes with his heart rhythm. His current medication slows down his heart racing but sometimes it slows it too much. When the heart recalibrates it pauses. When it does this the pacemaker kicks in. It can take 3-4 days for the rhythm to resume. He remains in ICU but not the ICU that he went to right after surgery. He is permitted visitors but I am going to ask that you make them short. Our family is trying to protect him from being Mike Calvert and giving it all away. He needs his rest but he is a lover of people as you know. Thanks for your thoughtfulness! Our prayer is that this is what happens, if we can avoid being anymore of a heart patient than he already is that would be great! Love you all, thanking you for your requests on our behalf to Father God!
