Good day all: A quick note from your Sqn chain of command. We are all concerned with the emerging situation here in Calgary as well as other parts of Southern Alberta. Somehow and someway we are all affected by the scope of this situation. I personally have family that has been evacuated as well as friends who have also been displaced. I am sure that within our close knit group of 83 Sqn, that there are very similar stories and strains. I would like to personally extend the assistance of your available squadron staff, and encourage anyone in situations requiring immediate assistance, to seek the support of emergency services. Also, I would like to emphasize the need to listen to the warnings and directions to evacuate and avoid areas affected by this event. Situations like this bring about the very best in people, and I would suspect that based on the fantastic people at 83 Squadron, we will see an absolutely incredible response. Additionally, I am requested that all cadets keep themselves safe at this time. I recognize that "To Learn, TO SERVE, To Advance" is the motto which we all embrace, but as this situation unfolds I remind you all to look after yourselves and avoid areas of danger until the risks have subsided. All of the best to you all in the 83 family. Nick van Aalst Lt Deputy Commanding Officer 83 RCACS
