Good evening Dragoon friends and family, today marks the beginning of yet another training week, getting your trainees one step closer to graduation and becoming a full-fledged Soldier. The pleasantly cool weather has apparently moved on and it’s been pretty warm all day. Undoubtedly this will mark the beginning of yet another one of our hot Missouri summers in the Ozarks. And now, the training update: Alpha Company (Week 8): A Company spent the day mastering Advanced Rifle Marksmanship with their close combat optics. This will transition later this week to the buddy team live fire drills and the Night Infiltration Course. Expect this to be a very busy but exciting week for Alpha Rock as they knock out the last few requirements before their culmination field training exercise next week. Bravo Company (Week 3): The Bulldogs spent the early part of the day out doing a tremendous team-building obstacle course—one of the favorite days here for the trainees. Later on after helping each other over the course, they marched over to the communications classrooms where they learned how to use radios and other communications equipment. Charlie Company (Week 9): C Company loaded up their equipment and shipped out to the field training site this morning. This is their culminating tactical exercise and they will spend 96 hours fighting a mock war against one another in the woods. They will use all of the technical and tactical skills taught to them over the previous eight weeks of training under combat conditions. Delta Company (Week 4): D Company conducted an Army Physical Fitness Test today, measuring the trainee’s ability to do push-ups, sit-ups and run two miles for time. Later in the day they got to work with Rifle Marksmanship training, getting familiarized with operating the M-4 Carbine with back-up “iron sights.” Echo Company (Week 3): The Eagles spent the first part of the day learning how to use radios, and how to function as a radio-telephone operator on a tactical net. Later they marched off to one of our premier obstacle courses. Just like the others, the company had a tremendous time working together as a team negotiating a series of confidence-building obstacles. The battalion did a great job last week during the Army Birthday run and those that will be here over the holiday weekend are in for a treat as we celebrate the birth of our nation. “By Force and Valor!” Lieutenant Colonel Gries Dragoon 6
