Good evening my friends, how are you tonight? Right now its 50° from my Houston home and after raining and thunderstorming for the last 24 hours the rains finally stopped. OK a slight departure from the norm here -- in the spirit of the Old West, which I think we all appreciate here, I want to take you back in time: to such a well made movie that I watched today: Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. It was one of my Moms favorite movies and she took my brother and I to see it several times: Like the move Ben Hur, (one of my favorites of all time) Seven Brides For Seven Brothers ran and reran for many years at the drive in movies. It shows a lost art form: singing and incredible/astounding choreography in a musical that just left me stunned. The movie, staring Howard Keel (I was absolutely stunned when I found out he played Clayton, who married Miss Ellie in Dallas after Jock died) Also starring Jane Powell, whose soprano voice will always be unmatched to me. The movie takes place in Oregon, and I loved the snowy mountain scenes that ran though most of the movie; even though many of the scenes have a mural backdrop in-studio that I appreciate simply for the art - again, a lost art form. Take a look back to a different time; a time when movie making was such a different art form. And surely missed by many of us. By the way I was also surprised to learn Jane Powell was only 49 tall . Wow! As far as I know she is still living. Howard Keel passed away in 2004. Gary Taylor Sharon Jones Lydia Jane Williams Don Dunlap and Janice Vowles Laurie Jacobson what do you think? Hope you like this -- only one of many songs and dance in this unbelievably well made movie from 1953. youtube/watch?v=TygmMPbwfjA
