Good morning! Before I begin my status this morning I want to say that I DO NOT believe ALL police officers are bad. I have family members and friends that are police officers. However, I do believe and know PERSONALLY that some police officers lie on police reports, brutalize people, racially profile people and worst of all kill people unjustly! With that being said, on Monday September 22nd two of my girlfriends and I attended a popular Baltimore City night club called Melba’s. A little after midnight (which made it Tuesday September 23rd) I was at one of the bars in the back of the club and I met a young man named Jamar. He was very handsome, kind and my favorite of all was he had a sense of humor. I have always loved meeting new people and I love to network with anyone quite frankly about my nail business. I currently have male clients who receive nail services from me, so I was excited to share with him that I recently started a mobile nail business. After a few minutes of conversing with him, one of my girlfriends decided she wanted to leave. So my other girlfriend and I walked her to the front of the club to make sure she was good. My girlfriend and I went back in the club. We made our way to the back of the club again because everybody who goes to Melba’s knows the dance floor and DJ is back there. Jamar and I picked up where we left off. I recall it being around 1am or slightly after and my girlfriend decided she was ready to leave. I told Jamar it was nice meeting him and I was about to leave. He offered to walk us to the car. I thought that was so nice and of course I said he didnt have to, but he insisted. I know that my significant other, father and any male in my family could appreciate another man making sure two women made it to their car safely on Greenmount Avenue and 32nd street after 1 am in the morning! Of course he and I were laughing and talking on the way to the car. From our conversation Jamar seemed like a really nice guy. I thanked him for walking us to the car and my girlfriend and I left. A couple of days later, one of my girlfriends called me and told me someone was beaten by the police the night we were at Melba’s. I was thinking, maybe something bad happened in the club that forced the police to inflict bodily harm on someone. I was not there to witness it for myself so I didnt want to jump to any conclusions. I was very relieved that we left early and were safe. About a week later, I was on Facebook and on my news feed a horrible picture popped up. It was a picture of Jamar with a bloody eye, blood all over his shirt which looked ripped and it looked like he was in an ambulance. I was FLABBERGASTED. I couldnt believe it! I was so upset, because I couldnt wrap my head around how a kind young man that walked me and my girlfriend to the car was beat up like that. I wanted to know what happened. He was a nice guy and I couldnt understand what he could of done that was so bad to be beat up like that. I read the article and there was a video! I watched it of course. He had his hands up the entire time and it was several police officers beating him with their batons. He was getting beat so bad that he fell to the ground. At this point. I was an emotional wreck. The article said that he was charged with assaulting police officers and resisted arrest. WHAT????? That was NOT what I witnessed on the video. After watching the video, I went back to Facebook and saw that he was tagged in it. THANK GOD FOR MUTUAL FACEBOOK FRIENDS. I immediately requested his friendship on Facebook. I told him I was terribly sorry that he was beaten like that. I asked him what happened. He explained to me exactly what happened. I will not go into details about that because he is currently going to court so his lawyers can prove that this man is innocent and the police LIED. The reason I will not go into details about what transpired inside of the club is because there is another video of what actually happened inside of the club. The video I saw, was the police beating him outside of the club. Not only did they beat him very badly, but Jamar was tased several times and had an asthma attack. Thank God he did not DIE!!!!!! To all of my family and friends, please watch this video. I pray that Jamar, which I later found out is called Rock by his family and friends, receives justice and is exonerated from these false charges. I am so happy that people video taped what really happened! If not this man would be in jail for nothing like so many other black men. I also am sick and tired of these cops getting just suspended with pay. These police officers who BRUTALIZED him are back to work! Not to mention how sick I am of them getting away with murder, lying and attacking people for no reason. Family this has got to STOP. Please pray for Jamar and share this with everybody! An encouraging word for him would be great too! He is traumatized and so is his family! Jamar has three small children, that could have possibly lost their father to death or false imprisonment if people were not smart enough to video what happened.
