Good morning... Risk of Severe Weather: Low, Locally - TopicsExpress

Good morning... Risk of Severe Weather: Low, Locally Moderate. Significant Weather: Fog/Freezing Fog Patches. Icy Patches. Wind: SW’ly light or moderate in the south, otherwise SW’ly moderate or fresh and increasingly strong across parts of Scotland and Ireland. Summary: Mainly dry for many today with bright or sunny spells, but areas of fog and patchy low cloud lingering in places. A cold day is expected too despite the sunshine. Forecast: It’s a cold start to Sunday across many areas with a widespread frost and this locally moderate across rural areas where temperatures have fallen below -5C along with some icy patches too. Some mist and fog patches, locally freezing fog patches are also in evidence in places and where these have developed then they could well linger all day leading to locally very cold conditions. However, for many areas through the rest of Sunday morning and into the afternoon conditions will be dominated by high pressure and, as a result, a dry day ahead is expected for many areas with bright or sunny spells through the afternoon, these prolonged at times. Despite the sunshine it will be a cold day though and temperatures will fall again quite quickly this evening beneath clear skies. Conditions are forecast to be cloudier and somewhat milder across the far north and west of Scotland today and the cloud may be thick enough to produce some patchy rain or drizzle. Temperatures ranging between 3C and 8C across most areas, though locally up to 10C across SW England, the far west of Ireland and also perhaps the far west of Scotland. As mentioned above where any fog or low cloud has developed and lingered then temperatures will struggle to just 1C or 2C. The outlook and analysis for the week ahead will be online a little later this morning... Chief Forecaster: MH
