Good morning and welcome to YourElevationToday (YET). Our topic, Secret Lovers. Secret Lovers? “Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:5-6 Love that cannot be acknowledged in the presence of people you honour and respect is one that cannot stand the test of time. You cannot claim to love your spouse in private while you do not give them preferential treatment (above all others) in public. You cannot be embarrassed by your spouse and build a happy home – that charade will certainly be exposed at the end of the day. “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” Romans 12:9 It is good to ‘dwell together in unity’ – Psalm 113:1. We must all learn to be genuine in our love for one another. Genuine love in selfless, not selfish; seeks to understand before being understood. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Think About It: Does my spouse feel loved in secret and in public? Do my family and friends believe that I truly love my spouse ‘above all others?’ Prayer Focus: Single: Ask the Lord to give you the grace to discern true love. Prophesy into your future home – speaking an atmosphere of love and selflessness. Married: Ask the Lord for grace to be selfless in your commitment to your spouse.
