**Good news*** OVER the last three weeks the Bolton South team has been running a night-time operation called Andapa. The aim was to significantly reduce vehicle crime and burglary offences in Hulton and Kearlsey. We obtained intelligence in relation to potential offenders and targeted them. Offenders were arrested for vehicle and burglary crimes and Operation Cleanslate was utilised to detect previous crimes. Burglary and vehicle crime is something we are tackling robustly and we want to reassure the community that we are taking action. During this nighttime operation, the Farnworth neighbourhood staff made eight arrests, five for burglary. We conducted 32 persons searches and developed a similar amount of intelligence. We assisted the response unit by attending reports of suspicious circumstances as early as possible, on a silent approach in order to give us an improved chance of getting hold of people at the earliest opportunity. In a recent review, burglary was reduced by 50 per cent and vehicle crime was reduced by 40 per cent as a result of proactive work and arrests. We are urging residents to keep reporting suspicious incidents as early as possible as we need your help catch people who steal from property or vehicles. It doesn’t matter how trivial it may seem, but if it concerns you that someone is up to no good, it needs to be called in to the police.
