Good weekend for Claasen, Serero. Daylon Claasen scored a debut goal for Polish side Lech Poznan to help them to a 3-2 victory over Zawisza Bydgoszcz on Sunday. Claasen made the perfect first impression in front of his new fans with an impressive debut that was capped with a third – and ultimately winning – goal as his side battled for most of the second half with 10 men. Kamohelo Mokotjo was again impressive for PEC Zwolle as they maintained top spot in the Dutch Eredivisie with a 1-1 home draw against Utrecht. And Thulani Serero played the full 90 minutes for Ajax Amsterdam as they were held 1-1 at Groningen. It was his first League start since he was injured a year ago against ADO Den Haag. Winger Ayanda Patosi returned to the playing field after eight months out with injury when he featured in the final 10 minutes of Lokeren’s 1-0 Belgian League victory over Oostende. And he very nearly got on the scoresheet too, forcing an excellent save from Oostende goalkeeper Mulopo Kudimbana. Anele Ngcongca and his Genk side were held 1-1 by Charleroi in Belgium, a disappointing result for them, while Darren Keet was on the losing side for Kortrijk at Standard Liege, going down 2-0. Dino Ndlovu got a goal and was then taken off as Maccabi Haifa lost 3-2 at Ashdod. It was a first goal in his first start of the season. South African-born goalkeeper Dani Amos was on the losing side for his Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv as they went down 2-0 to Hapoel Beer Sheva. Siyanda Xulu started as FC Rostov drew 1-1 at Dinamo Moscow, a fine point for them away from home, while Lebogang Phiri was a late sub for Brondby as they went down 2-1 at Aalborg in Denmark to remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Kagisho Dikgacoi was in action for Crystal Palace as they thumped Sunderland 3-1 to record their first English Premiership win of the season, while Steven Pienaar played for Everton as they were held 0-0 at Cardiff City. There was no debut for new Bournemouth signing Tokelo Rantie as he awaits his work- permit, but on the opposite side Bongani Khumalo played as Doncaster Rovers lost 1-0 at home to The Cherries in the English Championship. Dean Furman was on the bench for Rovers, while South African- born Andrew Surman was also an unused substitute for Bournemouth. Kgosi Ntlhe was replaced at halftime in Peterborough United’s surprise 2-0 home loss to 10-man Crawley Town, their first defeat of the season. Midfielder Kyle Jacobs played for Kilmarnock in their Scottish Premier League loss at Motherwell to continue their indifferent start to the season, while Bafana left-back Ricardo Nunes was on the losing side by the same scoreline for Slovakian outfit Zilina on Friday night against Senica.
