Google Search Will Now Highlight In-depth Articles On The Results Page.... Google will now feature longer, in-depth articles on the search results page and will call attention to them within a new block of results. The new block of results specifically for in-depth articles will not affect the regular search results as they will get the same prominence as before. The in-depth article block will be nearer the foot of the page, though the exact position hasn’t been confirmed yet. The update has arrived on Google (the English version) to begin with and soon should extend to other domains. Google found that nearly 10% of all searches are for detailed information. Topics like stem cell research, happiness, and love merit a more complete read. Articles from well-known publishers like Forbes, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times might get top billing but Google says that you’ll also find some great articles from lesser-known publications and blogs. A member from the Google technical team posted the following observation on the Inside Search blog: I’m happy to see people continue to invest in thoughtful in-depth content that will remain relevant for months or even years after publication. This is exactly what you’ll find in the new feature. Long form articles are back in vogue. One of the reasons can be attributed to the coming of tablets which allows readers to take their reading offline and consume it at leisure. With the introduction of this search feature, high quality long form article will come to the surface and not get buried under the avalanche of other search results. What do you think about this change? Do you enjoy reading in-depth articles, or do you type in “tl;dr”?
