Got a note today attached to my sons report card stating they were concerned because he has missed 17 days of school. And that I should make sure he gets to school because from experience this affects my child grades. And the letter went on and on.... my response to this letter(and yes I sent it back for him to return to the principal) Dear mr. Principal, First off my son has missed 17 days and let me clearly explain why to you.. 1. He caught the flu back in December from the other kids at school I am assuming since he doesnt go to a daycare. And because of that was out of school for 5 days. 2. He sees a specialist out of town monthly and as much as we try to schedule these outside of school hours this doesnt always work. You see with a specialist they make these appointments months in advance and you normally take what you can get. 3. We went to see family in November and he missed 4 days then. 4. He just recently(2 weeks ago) caught 5th disease and strep which your nurse made clear was going around the school rather rapidly. So again he caught this from school and was sent home from school in the morning on a tuesday and was out of school rest of week per doctor. ***not that I owe you an explanation of any of this as I am his parent. I have left his report card attached so you can double check your facts because my child has received straight As all year. Every quarter he has received straight as. And while your at it please check his grades last year as well because he received straight as for the entire year then as well. Hope he enjoys reading my letter tomorrow
