Got another postcard today from the Maloney camp hitting on Dave - TopicsExpress

Got another postcard today from the Maloney camp hitting on Dave Kesslers bankruptcy...a bankruptcy that occurred when he tried to hold on to his home after a divorce--not that thats anyones business, actually. I did noticed Maloney backed off the didnt pay a cent of the $60,000 thing. Maybe he fact checked. Or rather, maybe his handlers fact-checked. Better late than never. In the nearly five years my husband and I have been committee people, Ive been turning to the real estate page every Sunday--specifically, the real estate transactions. I do this because it helps me keep the voter list up to date here. If Joe Schmoe sold his house, and he was a Dem, I wont be sending him any Dem stuff at that address anymore. If the new owners are named, I usually ask Mark Drabinsky if hell check and see if theyve been voting anywhere else in the county, and if so, what their party affiliation might be. Ive sent out quite a few welcome notes to new Dems in our borough. There are apartments here that have a lot of turnover. If the new person isnt registered, Mr. Husband, the genial one in the family, usually tries to bring them to the light. :-) Over the years, with the economy being what it is, there have been quite a few sales of homes by Sheriff of Berks County. That means someones lost their home, and usually theyve lost their home after a lot of sweat and tears went in to trying to save it. I dont care who you are, Repub or Dem, nobody should have to go through that. But they do. And one of the reasons--let me get off track here--is because our dear Gov. Corbett passed educational spending down the line to the school districts, who had no choice but to raise property taxes to fund our schools. But thats not what I want to comment on, because Dave Kessler didnt lose his home. He sold his home and debts were paid. He still owns Bella Italia. Hes struggled, and hes come out the other side. He did this through sweat and hard work, just like the rest of us. The bankruptcy was dropped 6 months ago. Maloneys counting on his minions to be too stupid to check. Hope they wont prove him right. But I digress. Whatever hardships you have, one things certain: You learn from them. You learn to empathize with people who are still going through it. And you learn how to get the most out of every penny you have. Maloney doesnt have a clue about that. Not a clue. Over the years Ive been checking out the real estate transactions, Ive come across one (1) Dem who lost his home. The others were all Repubs and people who dont vote. I have a feeling many of these folks probably ended up declaring bankruptcy as well. By the time youre down to losing your home, youve probably run out of options. So theres Maloney, arms folded, all pious and superior to those who hit a wall due to owning commercial and personal properties when the economy tanked, or due to astronomical medical bills, or maybe a relative died and had no insurance or money for burial. Or maybe something that happened where the person once lived--something like a flood--wiped out their savings. Maybe someone lost their job and hit that no-mans-land where youre too young for social security and too old to get hired. A lot of fairly simple things can send a person into financial freefall. .And the people Maloneys addressing--the folks he believes should vote for him because they are all, like him, SO above all that--well, theres a real good chance those folks have been through the bad times too. They arent above all that. Theyve been there. Maybe theyre even STILL there. If I was in that position, I wouldnt take kindly to being called irresponsible and worse by a guy who wants my vote. Ive been wondering if Maloney ever thinks about this. Actually, Ive been wondering if Maloney ever thinks at all.
